An Undersea Highway
The Eastern Australian Current, or the EAC, is an ocean current that moves warm water from the tropical Coral Sea, where it splits from the South Equatorial Current down the East coast. Because of its powerful flow, the EAC is like un under sea highway. Many creatures such as the sea turtle use this as a mode of transportation, since it is the largest ocean current on the shores of Australia.
The EAC can reach speeds up to 7 knots (8.05546 mph) but generally is about 2 or 3 knots. 1 knot is equivalent to 1.5078 mph.
